  • Iain Dodgeon
    Strategic Ventures Manager of Public Engagement
    The Wellcome Trust
    Iain is Strategic Ventures Manager at global health charity, the Wellcome Trust. A former medical doctor and television producer, he has led the organisation's development and growth across broadcast, film and games.

    A champion of cross-industry exchange, over the last five years he and his team have worked with industry partners to create a celebrated programme supporting science-entertainment creative collaboration, including: Wellcome Screenwriting Fellowship in partnership with BFI and Film4 (inspiring original cinematic storytelling); Developing Beyond with Epic Games (a Europe-wide computer game development competition); The DocFest Exchange with Sheffield International Documentary Festival (a public-industry events venue exploring real-world ideas inspiring storytelling); and Experimental Stories with BBC Radio 4 (creating original radio drama).

    As a producer, Iain worked at companies including Endemol, BBC and STV, developing documentaries, formatted series and interactive content. He serves on the Editorial Committee of the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, the Advisory Committee of the Royal Institution's Christmas Lectures, and the Advisory Board of new UK games agency, the BGI.


  • Sonia Epstein
    Executive Editor of Sloan Science and Film
    Museum of the Moving Image
    Sonia Shechet Epstein works at the intersection of science and culture. As Executive Editor of the Museum of the Moving Image's Sloan Science & Film initiative, she publishes articles and produces multimedia content. At the Museum, Epstein curates the ongoing series Science on Screen which pairs rarely screened films with discussions between filmmakers and research scientists. Since 2014, she has been a mentor at NEW INC—the New Museum of Contemporary Art's incubator for practitioners in art and technology. Epstein has lectured internationally about the history of science films.
  • Su Rynard
    Film Director and Multimedia Artist
    Su Rynard is known for her diverse range of media work often inspired by science, ecology, and the human relationship to the natural world. Her films have screened in festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Rotterdam International Film Festival. Her media work has been exhibited at the MOMA in New York and the National Gallery of Canada. Her debut dramatic feature film Kardia was awarded the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize and her recent documentary The Messenger garnered numerous awards. Her short experimental documentary As Soon As Weather Will Permit was awarded the People's Choice Award at the Imagine Science Festival in New York. Su Rynard is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and was a Director Resident at the Canadian Film Centre. She lives and works in Toronto where she is currently directing a short documentary on Canadian pianist Eve Egoyan.
